What Is An ESG Report?

Firstly, let’s start with the simple definition of what is an ESG Report. An ESG Report will usually follow a standard and is a method of disclosing the success or lack thereof of your environmental, social and governance progress.

In the UK, there are currently no ESG exclusive required standards, however some sectors such as housing with the SRS have their own optional standards. These standards will eventually need to be auditable!

Why Should Your ESG Report Be Auditable?

There is an ongoing and growing trend in the auditing world of ensuring both your financial and non-financial disclosures are all externally audited.

It is essential that your ESG report should be auditable because your stakeholders, shareholders and lenders need to be sure that what you are reporting is not only factual and up to date but also presenting the highest quality data possible.

As the SRS expands, it is likely that banks will start to request checks and balances to verify the data. In the UK Housing Sector there is also the RITTERWALD Sustainable Housing Label, which allows for an in depth ESG Report that you can present to lenders with the assurance that all the data is audited.
