What are Scope 1 Emissions?

Scope 1 emissions are greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced by sources directly owned or controlled by an organisation. These emissions can be divided into 4 classifications, namely Stationary Combustion (burning fossil fuels for heat and energy), Mobile Combustion (fuel for vehicles), Fugitive Emissions (unintentional releases of chemicals and refrigerants), and Process Emissions (manufacturing and industrial activities). Scopes 1 and 2 emissions are mandatory to report, but they are also easier to measure compared to Scope 3.
