December 9, 2021 — Convene, the multi-awarded board management and annual general meeting software provider, in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), hosted ‘The Evolution of Virtual Leadership During the Pandemic’, an international webinar discussing the journey of Nigerian organisations towards digitalisation and business sustainability.
The webinar discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the transition of Nigerian organisations from physical to virtual meetings and how it has transformed corporate governance to adapt to the changes brought by the global crisis. The resource speakers talked about going digital in the pandemic for companies and boards — integrating electronic means to administer engaging and compliant board meetings and annual general meetings. Yomi Adebanjo from ICSAN, shared, “After this pandemic, we cannot go back to normal. Virtual will be the new thing… Platforms designed for [the] board and general meetings should have the desired features that attune them to the provisions of the law on meetings, [such as] two-way virtual discussions that uphold the rights of the members in the meetings.”
The speakers also tackled the role of digitalisation in corporate governance and business sustainability. Investing in digital tools and solutions not only automates the complex workflows in businesses but also enables companies to develop strategies that will help them be future-proof despite unforeseen challenges. Innovations, like board meeting software, can aid boards and businesses in transitioning from physical to digital — establishing more efficient and sustainable outcomes and processes. “With a meeting software, you can put everything on a single platform and it will do everything for you. The board meeting software removes the complexities in physical and virtual meetings,” according to Kevin Yoo from Convene.
Digitalisation enables the growth of companies by meeting new regulatory standards and equipping boards with the capabilities to lead, make data-driven decisions, and communicate better to key stakeholders. Abiola Laseinde, one of the resource speakers from ICSAN, imparted, “The IT community has thrived to let businesses navigate digital opportunities and generate revenue… Digitalisation makes any business ‘future-fit’. The deployment of digital tools, talents, and [an] innovative model can make businesses sustainable.”
This event is powered by ConveneAGM, the world’s leading annual general meeting solution and event platform engineered by Azeus Systems.
