Bristol Airport Works Faster and Smarter Through the Help of Convene

Bristol Airport is North Somerset’s largest single site employer. The airport handles over 7 million passengers per annum with approvals in place to handle 10 million passengers per year.

Rachel Powell, Executive Personal Assistant at Bristol Airport, recounts how Convene is helping the organization work faster and smarter.

“A new initiative was started at Bristol Airport to try and work smarter across the whole organization using IT solutions. With eight board meetings per year, we were printing or emailing a lot of documents,” Rachel enumerated.

“We initially switched to a cloud-based system, which took away the need to email the documents. However, it didn’t provide the functionality we needed. So, I researched the marketplace extensively for a board portal software that would help us work smarter,” she recounts as the reason why they had searched for a board portal software solution.

Right Balance for Cost and Features

“We did looked at a number of products, but Convene struck the price point balance of cost and features, so we purchased 15 licenses under a hosted agreement. The implementation process and learning curve have been fairly easy, just a couple of short sessions with internal users were enough for them to gain confidence in using the system,” Rachel enumerated when they finally adopted Convene as their board portal software.

Files are Up to Date

“We value the fact that, with Convene, you can easily mark-up papers electronically with comments and the document library is useful for storing additional information in a central location accessible by everyone,” she stated.
Rachel also stated that, “The way that the agenda builder works makes it very easy to quickly check that you have included all the papers you needed. I know that, as long as they work from Convene, everyone will have the latest version of all the board documents. That couldn’t be done with email or a cloud-based system.”

Saves Time and Money

Rachel concludes that, “The use of Convene has saved a couple of hours per meeting, plus there has been a saving as we’re printing less. Due to its hosted nature and good user interface, the IT admin did not have much concerns, which is great.”
